This Family Collection Sharps-Borchardt 45-70 Rifle is a Magnificent, Older, Custom Restoration with a Left-Handed Cheekpiece Stock that works quite well for us Right-Handed Shooters, too. The Receiver has been Polished and Blued and the Case-Colored Breechblock appears to be reproduction. The Modern 27-Inch Barrel is Untapered; 1-Inch Diameter; has a Target/Sport Dished Crown; and is unmarked – including beneath the forend. Portions of the left-side receiver markings are just barely legible in proper lighting – in three lines: “BORCHARDT PAT / SHARPS RIFLE CO BRIDGEPORT CONN. / U.S.A.” Serial Number 177XX is on the bottom of the action in front of the Triggers. The bore is bright with sharp rifling. This Rifle has a Splendid, Finely Figured Stock with Extraordinary Decorative and Functional Checkering, Contrasting Wood Pistol Grip Cap (also Checkered) and Matching Schnabel Forend – both offset with Ivory Colored Polymer Spacers; and Pachmayr Recoil Pad. A Vintage Weaver T-20 Micro Trac Scope with Rings sits on standard dovetail bases. There are no other sights; a dovetail cut for a front sight is present. This collection has (approximately) a dozen Sharps Borchardts, some yet to be listed on G.I. under this username, and non-duplicate others on a different site. Condition is best judged from the photos – so please ask any questions or request additional information before purchase as this item will be costly to return owing to CA re-registration and other regulations.
