This 10 lb. post Civil War Spencer Heavy barrel by Platte of San Francisco was developed for the western trade in competition to the Hawkens of St. Louis. What was first thought to be a ram-rod on these conversions turned out to be a cleaning rod that was usually accompined by a "cleaning kit". Conversions made by Platte are rare and fact it is a heavy barrel makes it even more so. I have not tested the bore for caliber but assume it is in the .45-.50 caliber range.  This is a beautiful rifle ! Please text me if interested because of crank calls.
