Description:
The item for sale is an Exhibition Quality New Departure Smith & Wesson revolver. This is an antique revolver and the condition is excellent as shown in the photos. Mechanically the revolver is excellent. The bore likewise is excellent. The revolver exhibits beautiful engraving attributed to L. D. Nimschke with approximately 100% coverage. The cylinder and trigger guard are gold plated and retain 95% coverage which is amazing as gold is not durable. The nickel remains in outstanding condition and vivid case colors remain on the trigger. The pearl grips have survived in exceolent condition. The history of this revolver is unknown as to whether it was intended for exhibition or a customer with impeccable taste, however, it has survived 128 years in remarkable condition.
