This Estate Listing is a Used, Winchester Model 53 Takedown Rifle in 25-20 Caliber with 24-Inch Round Barrel. Serial Number 983,9XX indicates 1924 year of manufacture. All markings are proper, sharp, and easily legible. The Wood is Straight-Grained, Dark with Age, has no checkering, and shows some blemishes on the mostly intact finish. The proper Serrated, Blued Steel Buttplate and Forend Cap retain some original finish. Blue is preserved on the Barrel; and it has well-preserved & sharp rifling that is difficult to photograph. The rear sight is a Marble’s replacement; the front sight is a vintage Lyman bead. Mechanical functions are tight and secure, including the Takedown Feature – which places a modest premium on pricing. Nor being experts or dealers, we estimate the wood and metal condition shown in the photos as better than 80-Percent.
