Beautiful circa 1915 LC Smith Side by Side Shotgun. In my opinion, in very nice for a shotgun that is over 100 years old. Matching numbers on receiver, barrel and forend iron.
About the Curtis Latch based on my research:
The A.P. Curtis designed forearm fastener was introduced in the 1913 Hunter Arms Co. catalogue. Arthur P. Curtis filed the Patent applictation on March 28, 1913, and was granted Patent No. 1,239,889 on September 11, 1917. The Curtis latch was dropped from production on October 24, 1919, when the group of Fulton businessmen, who bought Hunter Arms out of bankruptcy in 1918 were looking for cost cutting measures.
