Barrel Markings on the Top are in Two Lines “COLT’S PT. FA. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A. / PAT’D DEC. 22, 1903. AUG. 27, 1918. SEPT. 3, 1918.” These Woodsman Models are made to handle High Velocity .22 LR ammunition. The Backstrap/Mainspring Housing is Horizontally Serrated for (approximately) ½ Inch where theof a shooter’s hand would go. The (approximately) 6-½ Inch Barrel is Slightly Tapered and has the Elevation-Adjustable Front Blade (Partridge-Style) Sight found on only a minority of First Series Pistols. A Windage Screw-Adjustable and Line-Indexed Rear Sight sits atop the back end of the Slide – which carries Vertical Serrations. Safety-Slide Hold-Back/Release is on the Left Side. The Slide does Not Remain Open on these models after firing the last round. The Pistol is in Good Working Order and recently was test-fired. The bore is bright with preserved rifling. At more than 80 years old, the pistol shows relatively moderate wear for age – with a streak of bluing wear along both sides of the barrel, from the muzzle to (approximately) one inch ahead of the frame. Not being dealers or experts, we can see other finish wear on frame edges and below the backstrap serrations. The Checkered Wood Grips appear original and in good shape.
