About Us: Estate Sale of Unique Collection

Description:
There could be a dozen of the fewer than  9,000 Sharps Borchardt / Bridgeport CT Rifles made between 1878 - 1881 coming up for sale from this collection. “The Military Sharps-Borchardt was made only in .45-70 with 32" round barrels and was purchased by the militias of the states of Michigan, North Carolina, and Massachusetts” according to:  ://en.wikipedia/wiki/Sharps-Borchardt_Model_1878  Although we are not Dealers or Experts, this example appears correct to us in all respects: 45-70 Caliber; 32-Inch Round Barrel; Military-Style Stock and Metal Furniture. Markings are as follows: Left side of receiver, in three lines “BORCHARDT PATENT / SHARPS RIFLE CO. BRIDGEPORT CONN. / U.S.A.” Bottom of the receiver between the falling block and front trigger – Serial Number “102XX”. Top of barrel, behind the rear sight and in front of the receiver ring “Old Reliable” in script – and “SHARPS RIFLE CO. BRIDGEPORT, CONN.” We estimate it has zero – to 10 percent remaining finish, at most – and looks nearly ‘in the white’. The condition can be judged from the photos. The bore is rough and pitted; however, rifling is visible throughout its length. There is space for what we presume was a cleaning rod (that is missing) beneath the barrel. We have not fired this rifle with live ammunition – only snap-caps; however, the action is remarkably tight, and it looks, sounds, and feels fully operational and capable of live-fire. Please ask any questions or request additional information before purchase as this item will be costly to return owing to CA re-registration and other regulations. Any refunds will be minus our actual shipping cost and FFL fees after buyer pays return shipping. The listed price Includes Insured Ground Shipping from a CA FFL Dealer to yours. Payment is by Money Order, Bank (Certified) Check or Personal Check (held 2-3 days). We are the Estate Executor and Trustee, not a dealer, and cannot handle credit card or electronic payments. This item is subject to prior sale.
