This is an extraordinary condition Used, Winchester Model 1892 / Model 92 Saddle Ring Carbine in 32-20 Caliber with 20-Inch Round Barrel and Full-Length Magazine Tube. Serial Number 917,2XX indicates 1922 year of manufacture; and the Barrel, Receiver, Patent, and Caliber Markings are Sharp and Correct. The 32-20 caliber-specific Single Band and Rifle-Style Magazine Tube Retainer are also correct. An Adjustable Lyman Tang Sight appears Vintage, as does the Marbles Folding V-notch Barrel Sight. The Front Sight is a Pinned Bead (unmarked). The Smooth Stock and Forend have Nice Figure, Straight Grain, some darkening with age, and a Standard Blue Buttplate with nearly all of its finish. Butt- and Barrel-Band Swivels are in place. The Blued and Wood Finish shown in the photos appears remarkably well preserved; and to our eye appear original – judging from the sharpness of the receiver and barrel markings, a few blemishes on the outside, and what looks like retained factory finish on the inside parts. Rifling also appears sharp and clean to the eye, as we do not have a borescope. Mechanical functions are tight and secure making this a highly collectible 100+-year-old shooter.
