Unusual German Anschutz Zephyr .22 SHOT Rifle w/Clay Pigeon Thrower Attachment

We are pleased to offer for sale this newly acquired fine and unusual collectible sporting arm from the venerable firm of Anschutz of Germany. This rifle would date to approximately late 50s - early 60s. Anschutz, famed for its small bore manufacture of rifles appeared to experiment with a small longarm that would be enticing for the sporting clay enthusiast. Advertising in 1959-1960 relates to the company making a model called the "Claybirder" in which they would couple a firearm along with a standalone clay pigeon thrower. This model the "Zephyr" is chambered for "THE .22 LR SHOT CARTRIDGE". The 1958 add notes that it is "partially" smoothbore with the muzzle end rifled to accept standard .22 cartidges.. It comes with a spring loaded clay pigeon thrower attached to the end of 23" barrel. We do not know with this attachment Anschutz offered the Zephyr and target thrower as the "Claybirder" package. We have not encountered one before in our more than 50 years in the business. SN 0110663 this specimen is in excellent condition and does not appear to have seen use. Just some minor storage marks on wood and the barrel retains all of its finish save for a very light mark forward of barrel where clay thrower is attached. Original factory magazine with a slight scratch on it (shown). Certainly a very interesting "curio" and we offer it as a curio and relic (C&R) eligible item. J896 FHZ
