Description:
Buttstock and forearm are of satin finish European walnut.  Buttstock is mounted with the original style blued buttplate. These are hard to find at most all retailers and distributers today. Wood to metal fit is excellent.  Color cased hardened frame and hammer. 21 1/2" part round, part octagon barrel mounted with military style blade front sight and ladder style rear sight.

Action is opened by a push button located inside the blued steel triggerguard.  Caliber is .50. Barrel is rifled with 3 lands and grooves with a twist rate of 1 turn in 60 inches and a rifling depth of .007".  Uses musked caps.

During the period so called era of transition”, soon after the end of the Civil War, many weapons were originated and played, more or less, an important part in the American history.  The Smith Carbine was one of those weapons -- many pioneers ventured West armed with their trustworthy Smiths.  The hinged breech action allowed a quick and easy reload even on horseback.

This reproduction of the Smith Carbine is the INFANTRY version .50 cal. with sling mounts on the butt stock and the forearm.

This is  a blackpowder percussion carbine considered an antique and can be shipped directly to you.
