This is for a custom rifle I had made by a smith in Tennessee some years ago based on a brand new Montana 1999 barelled action. In .338 RCM.
That caliber got me excited and after buying a Ruger 77 in that caliber and shooting it quite a bit, decided to make a mannlicher, my passion.
Not long thereafter my company got bought, I was made redundant, and then I got the dread C word disease. I have been selling my collection of 40 years for some time now.
I mounted a nice new top of the line Leica scope on the gun, sighted in with a 4 rounds, and that was it. Been in my safe ever since. The scope alone and quck detatch mounts cost over 2 grand.
The stock I had made was from a blank of Claro walnut, very natural dark. The smith did an nice job, perfect checkering, perfect proportions. The action was magnum mounted as shown. A real nice piece of work. About 7K dollars invested, minus the scope.
The gun is as new. As to the .338 RCM caliber, I had amassed 25 boxes of ammo, two or three calibers, all Hornday , several dies, and bags of new Hornady brass. I will make the buyer of this gun a screaming deal on all the ammo. A fraction of current pricing.
