Description:
This beautiful, high quality 16 jones underlever back action sxs hammer gun is uncommon, and in very good overall condition as refinished.  Charles Galand of Paris made guns in the 19th and early 20th century in Birmingham and Liege.  He went out of business in 1920.   29" damascus barrels have been professionally re-browned by Dustin Maruquin of Utah.  Bores are shiny, but with moderate to heavy pitting in each. Minimum wall thickness is .028 in the right barrel 9" from the muzzle, and .030 in the left, with one thin spot at 9" from the muzzle that is .019.   9" from the breech it is .045 right and .047 left.  No dents, tight ribs, 2.5" chambers, choked ic/f, which is perfect for just about everything.  Gun has modern dimensions of 1 5/8 x 2 ¼ x 14.5 with ¼" cast off for a right-handed shooter.  I've shot this gun at trap and it is a fantastic shooter with appropriate 2.5" low pressure loads.

Mechanics are excellent, with tight lockup and silky-smooth hammers and high-quality back action lock work.  The wood is incredible for an 1880's gun.  Dry, zero cracks, and the inletting looks like it was just done yesterday.  Beautiful workmanship.  The receiver has unusual radial inletting that creates a round head of the stock, which creates a round flat face to distribute the stress of recoil.  I've never seen this before.  Ingenious.  Weighs 6.10lbs. Case pictured is not included.  This is a pre-1898 antique, no ffl required.
