Description:
Guns Listing ID: 1429215

Step into the Wild West with this Colt 1877 Double Action, famously known as the \"Lightning\". This name, coined by Benjamin Kittredge—one of Colt‚‚s major distributors—is the same man who brought us the term \"Peacemaker\" for the Colt Single Action Army. The Lightning was a favorite among Old West outlaws, including the infamous John Wesley Hardin, who was known to wield both the Lightning and its larger sibling, the Thunderer.

This particular revolver was manufactured in 1903, placing it among the later production years of this iconic model. All the serial numbers match, except for the loading gate, which is typical of a piece with such history. The color case-hardened receiver and blued 4.5\" barrel, trigger guard, and trigger shoe retain the vintage charm, with wear consistent with a firearm that’s over a century old.

Despite its age, this Colt still locks up well, and the timing is spot-on, making it not just a collector’s item but a functional shooter too. This is a piece of Colt history—both a nod to the craftsmanship of the past and a tangible link to the legends of the Old West.
