This is a Winchester model 290 deluxe rifle, likely manufactured in the 60‚‚s or early 70‚‚s. Overall condition is very good given it‚‚s age. There are some small scratches on the reciever and a few light blemishes in the wood. The white ring on the buttstock, between the wood and the black plate has some cracks. Overall, I‚‚d give this gun an 8 out of 10.
The Winchester Model 290 semi-automatic .22 rimfire rifle debuted in the 1960s. It was a budget rifle that offered good features and good content. The model 290 had a 20.5” long barrel with a 1:16” right hand twist and a tubular magazine and overall length was 39”. For safety, the gun had a cross lock in the front top of the trigger guard. The 290 Deluxe added basket-weave checkering, a high-gloss Monte Carlo walnut stock and a luxuriously finished receiver. Model 290 Deluxe was made in New Haven, Connecticut, and were thus Made in USA.
