Description:
Serial #7190, .22 RF, 3 inch octagon barrel with a dark pitted bore. This is the Hood Firearms Company pocket revolver manufactured in Norwich, CT circa late 1870's to 1880's with this example having the April 6, 1875 patent date on the barrel. This example was punch dot engraved with a floral motif having about 70-75% coverage. In very good to fine overall condition it retains perhaps 45-50% of the original nickel finish that has flaked and left a dark appearance where missing. The grips are solid showing old repairs. Mechanically it functions with a somewhat rough action but does cock and index properly. A great place holder example for a growing collection. Antique.
