Nice custom barreled, mid 1960's vintage Sako Model L461 Vixen in .223 Remington. Featuring a gloss blue high-polish factory blue finish and a L461 Sako action, this Vixen has a 23-1/2" inch barrel and a gloss-finished checkered Walnut stock with a black factory pistol grip cap and buttplate. These vintage Sako Vixens are sought-after by shooters and collectors alike as they are considered one of the finest regular production rifles ever made. The Vixen quickly earned a reputation as being a beautifully-made and well-balanced rifle that is reliable, accurate, and very attractive. This particular .223 Remington example is in excellent condition overall. The gloss blue finish rates 98% plus and it has a perfect bore. Custom Mark Chanlynn of Rocky Mountain Rifle Service cut rifled barrel. Mark Chanlynn apprenticed under Boots Obermeyer, and is known for producing the highest quality cut rifled barrels. The stainless steel 25-1/2" barrel features a 1 in 9" left hand twist, medium varmint taper that measures .750" diameter at the muzzle with a custom target crown. The bore has sharp lands and grooves and there is no pitting, erosion, or imperfections visible throughout. The original factory stock is glass bedded around the action, and is in excellent condition. All of the controls on this Sako Vixen are in perfect working order, and the action is extremely smooth when worked and turns into battery perfectly. The trigger on this Sako is excellent, breaking like a glass rod with a very light pull with no grit or slop. This Sako would be an excellent Varmint or target rifle. Note: This rifle is out of an estate, we Do Not know the round count, or any load data on this rifle. The 1 in 9" twist should be ideal for light to medium weight .223 bullets. The prior owner's son, whom we aquired this rifle from, did say that it was a one hole shooter.
