Here is a neat little German hammer double rifle with no maker's name.  It was built circa pre-WWI.  It was rechambered to .444 Marlin, and the previous owner said he fired the rifle but did not work up a special load for it.  The barrels are 27.6" (70mm) wtih excellent bores.  There is a raised filed rib with a two-leaf rear sight.  There is a doll's head extension, and the lock-up is tight.  The rebouding back-action locks function crisply.  The front trigger is a set trigger.  The receiver has engraving of a roebuck on one side, a setter on the other.  The peninsula lock-plates feature a duck and a hare.  The lightly figured semi-pistol-grip European walnut stock has crisp checkering.  The length of pull is 14 1/4" including a horn butt-plate.  The rifle weighs 7 lbs 10 oz.  A classy (and useful) double rifle.
