This Listing from a Family Collection of Shooting Sports Enthusiasts is a Used; Circa 1947; SN 737,3XX; King’s Gun Sight Company of San Francisco full target treatment on a Colt Official Police .38 Special Revolver. It has all of King’s signature features: COLT-KING SUPER TARGET designation on the Raised, Ventilted, Serrated Matte Rib – which extends across the backstrap to the Windage and Elevation-Adjustable Rear Target Sight. The Rib creates a Level Sighting Plane over the Heavy Tapered Factory Barrel marked “OFFICIAL POLICE / 38 SPECIAL CTG” in two lines on its left side. The Elevation-Adjustable and Undercut Front Sight has King’s Trademark Light-Reflecting Mirror inset into the rib. Also present is King’s Patented Asymmetrical, Fine-Checkered Hammer, Offset to the Left for the Right Thumb. The Colt Trigger Serrations are Border-Outlined, and the revolver sports Gold-Medallion Colt Grips (not numbered) with Raised Checkering Panels. Not being dealers or experts, we estimate this revolver as 75-80 Percent Modern Condition with the Cylinder Latch showing the most bluing wear. The bore is excellent; irregularities in the photos are shadow artifacts that move around depending on the angle of view; a cylinder ring is visible as are mild-moderate chamber markings ahead of the case mouth.
