This Listing from a Family Collection of Shooting Sports Enthusiasts is a Used; Circa 1948; SN 7511XX; King’s Gun Sight Company of San Francisco full target treatment on a Colt Officer’s Model Target .38 Special Revolver. It has all of King’s signature features: COLT-KING SUPER TARGET designation on the Raised, Ventilted, Serrated Matte Rib – which extends across the backstrap to the Windage and Elevation-Adjustable Rear Target Sight. The Rib creates a Level Sighting Plane over the Heavy Tapered Factory Barrel marked “OFFICERS MODEL TARGET / 38 SPECIAL CTG” in two lines on its left side. The Elevation-Adjustable and Undercut Front Sight has King’s Trademark Light-Reflecting Mirror inset into the rib. Also present is King’s Wide, Fine-Checkered Hammer that is Symmetrical on this revolver. There is an unmarked Trigger Shoe in place. What appear to be Roper or Roper-Style High-Grade Target Grips have Wrap-Around Checkering in the Front and an Exposed Colt Factory-Serrated Backstrap. The inside of both grip panels bear a previous owner’s name, some numbers, and “Nov 14, 1955”. Not being dealers or experts, we estimate this fine, fully serviceable revolver as (approximately) 85-90 Percent Modern Condition with bluing wear as shown in the photos. The bore is excellent; irregularities in the photos are shadow artifacts, depending on the angle of view; a cylinder ring is visible as are mild-moderate chamber markings ahead of the case mouth.
