Early AMERICAN Restock 1st Model British Brown Bess Long Land Flintlock Musket
Offered here and just acquired is this "estate" find - a Revolutionary War period classic British Brown Bess musket. This wonderful specimen was restocked in using the barrel, lock, and furniture from an EARLY 1742 pattern Long Land Pattern Brown Bess Musket. The British barrel is stamped with ordnance proofs on top of breech which have been extremely worn as well as the lockplate markings which are veryt faint. Forward of lock is British crown but the rear maker or date is too worn to determine. Standard Long Land Pattern brass furniture. American stock is devoid of any carving, except for deep flutes along comb. Period wooden ramrod. CONDITION: Good overall, barrel shows some wear and a heavy dark brown patina with some corrosion at breech and muzzle. Lock shows a dark patina. Brass shows some scattered marks and unpolished patina. Stock very good with some scattered marks and what appears to be a nail repair/bolster to crack in comb. This is a very nice American stocked regimentally marked musket especially with early pattern a great addition to any Revolutionary War collection.
