ANOTHER .225 Winchester in an Original Sharps Borchardt Action which has been Polished and Reblued – leaving a few little pits in the finish. Buttstock has a Left-Handed Cheekpiece. The left side of the receiver is marked in three lines “BORCHARDT PAT / SHARPS RIFLE CO BRIDGEPORT CONN. / U.S.A.” Note: The ‘CONN’ abbreviation has been polished away. Serial Number 87XX is on the bottom of the action in front of the Smooth Triggers (Rear 'Trigger' is the Safety Catch). This rifle has been customized with a .225 Winchester; 28-Inch x .900-Inch Diameter Barrel having a ‘dished’ full-diameter 11-Degree Crown. The bore appears bright with sharp rifling, as best we can tell with the naked eye and a flashlight. A Magnificent, Near-Natural-Colored, Tiger-Stripe Maple Stock is the most striking feature. The Forend has what looks like a large Ebony Forend Tip – Echoed by the Pistol Grip Cap; Flat Benchrest Bottom; Exquisite, Fine-Line Fleur-de-Lis Checkering; Artful Transitions where wood joins the receiver; and a Beautifully-Executed, Skeletonized Niedner Buttplate with Fine-Line Checkering of the Exposed Wood. A Tall and Prominent Cheek Piece graces the Right Side of this Left-Handed Buttstock. Given the polished and reblued action, custom barrel and stock – condition may be judged from the photos. Not being dealers or experts, we can say that apart from some polished-over pitting on the receiver flats, the rifle is in excellent – albeit refinished and customized – condition. A Redfield 24X Scope in very good to excellent condition with clear optics; Serial Number 00991; is included. It is 23+ Inches Long with a Fine Crosshair Reticle and 2-Inch O.D. Objective. It sits in conventional 1-Inch Steel Rings on Standard 3/8" Dovetail bases.
