Description:
The Springfield Model 1873 was the first standard-issue breech-loading rifle adopted by the United States Army. The rifle, in both full-length and carbine versions, was widely used in subsequent battles against Native Americans. The Model 1873 was the fifth variation of the Allin trapdoor design, and was named for its hinged breechblock, which opened like a trapdoor. The infantry rifle model featured a 325/8-inch (829 mm) barrel. With their new 1873 Trapdoor Carbines, Custer and the 7th Cavalry rode off to the Battle of the Little Big Horn and into the pages of history. This firearm is being offered by the Boise Cabela's Gun Library. We will ship for free to your local Cabela's or Bass Pro Shops for transfer to you. If you are interested in purchasing or have any other questions, please call the Boise Cabela's Gun Library directly at (208) 672-7922. .45-70 Government
