Browning Arms Co Auto-5 Light Twelve shotgun in beautiful condition. Manufactured by Fabrique National Herstal (FN), Belgium in 1961. These semi-automatic, recoil operated shotguns endure an admirable legacy since 1903, one that is known for craftmanship and reliability.
Features of the Browning Arms Co Auto-5 Light Twelve for sale here include chambering in 12 gauge; modified choke; beautiful scroll engraving on the receiver, tangs, and trigger guard; gold plated trigger; checkered pistol grip and forearm; five-shot magazine; and 28-inch engraved barrel. The push button safety, located behind the trigger; rounded knob pistol grip; and reddish walnut stock finish are all correct for the period of manufacture.
Markings include ‘BROWNING ARMS COMPANY ST LOIUS Mo. & MONTREAL P.Q.’/** SPECIAL STEEL – 12 GAUGE – SHELLS 2 ¾”’ on the left side of the barrel, just forward of the inspector/proof markings found forward of the receiver. ‘MADE IN BELGIUM’ is marked on the barrel, right side. In addition to the scroll work, the receiver, left side, is marked ‘Light Twelve’ in script above a circled ‘R’/’Browning’/John Browning’s profile. On the right side of the receiver, proof marks are found just below the ejection port. A proof mark is visible on the bolt was well. The serial number is located on the receiver bottom, forward of the of the loading port and a ‘T’ is stamped on the rear wall of the loading port. A ‘38’ is stamped into the stock wood behind the rounded knob pistol grip.
This Browning Arms Co Auto-5 Light Twelve is in very good condition for its age. The blue metal finish is deep and strong with a few minor handling marks. The stain on the wood has a gorgeous reddish tint and high gloss finish. A few minor handling marks are present. The rubber recoil pad has become hard and cracked with age and now has some gun case fuzz embedded. The bore is mirror bright, clean, and remains unmarked. It appears this shotgun was fired very little. Comes with the original manual with a black cover. The cover is frayed and remains in sound structural condition. The manual itself is like new.
