Mostly we only bring in the factory straight stocked version of Marlins classic lever action rifles primarily because we like them so much. This is rare transition model; prior to 1952 the tops of 336 Marlins were not factory drilled or tapped for scopes and the tops of the receivers have a series of squiggly lines but no provisions for scopes. In 1952 or 53 they dropped the squiggly lines and modified the top of the receiver to be a smooth and sand blasted type type that was continued until the end of production many decades later. However for the lst two yrs of the "new" type of receiver while smooth witout the lines they were not drilled and taped for scope sights until 1955. This gun is a 1954 model and the only one we have seen or had that had neither the squiggly lines but was not drilled and tapped. This beauty has been in a time capsul and has almost not sign of being used , hunted or carried. Missing is the Marlin Bullsey...decoration at the underside of the stock...they often fall out on older guns as the materials (plastic and wood stock) shrink at different rates. We do have a small supply of these ...easy to install yourself...we can walk you thru the process.
