Description:
CASED Pair of LONDON PROOFED Antique COLT “New Line” .22 Cal. RF Revolvers

FIRST YEAR PRODUCTION Conceal & Carry Hideout Guns

Here we present an antique Cased Pair of London Proofed Colt New Line .22 Rimfire Revolvers, both made in 1873 in Hartford, Connecticut and subsequently shipped over to London. The “New Line” was a single action pocket revolver introduced by the Colt’s Patent Fire Arms Manufacturing Company in 1873 and continued through 1884, with the .22 caliber being manufactured between 1873 and 1877 with a total of roughly 55,343 being manufactured.

Two years after the Colt House Revolver, a year after the Colt Open Top, and almost simultaneously alongside the Colt Peacemaker, the Colt New Line was one of the first metallic cartridge, rear-loading revolvers manufactured by Colt. It was designed to be a handy pocket-carry revolver, chambered in .22 rimfire, which was very popular for self-defense in these days.

The revolver features 7 shots of .22 rimfire. Of all the Colt “New Line” revolvers made, the .22 caliber was the only one featuring a 7 shot cylinder, the other calibers utilized a 5-shot cylinder.

The overall condition is fine. Both have original finish, both nickel and fire blue. The action for #2900 is excellent with great indexing and lockup, while #4256 has strong, crisp hammer/trigger function, the cylinder does not presently revolve. The bores are clean with sharp rifling. The grips are in fine shape. Numbers match. The case is in fine condition.

Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.

Barrel is 2-1/4 inches.

Caliber: .22 Rimfire (short, black powder)

Overall condition as seen in photos.
