MINT Winchester pre-64 model 70 featherweight bolt action chambered in .243. This a "gopher special" model made as a special make up for Gopher Shooters Supply of Faribault MN., with a sightless 22" barrel and composite butt plate. Only 300 were ever made. Gopher special were made in 1959 and early 1960. Serial
number of this rifle dates to 1957 so unclear if this was a special ordered configuration or a receiver that was manufactured in 1957 and used to build rifle in 1959. Standard model 70 of this era had the aluminum butt but this is composite which makes us believe it's a true gopher special. Consignment sale.
