Description:
Merkel .308 Win. K3 Jagd Single Shot Stalking Rifle.
Based on the Franz Jaeger action patented in 1906 that incorporates a hinged steel breech block that allows use of duralumin for the action body, making a very strong yet lightweight firing system.
Matte silver finish receiver is engraved with game scenes featuring a pair of Chamois looking down in an alpine scene on the right side of the receiver, and a Whitetail deer running through a wooded scene is on the left side. The Maker’s name is engraved on the bottom.
Rifle has a 24" (23.6”) round barrel with iron sights and accepts a Merkl saddle mount.
The grade 2 walnut stock has a 14 ¼" LOP over a thin rubber recoil pad with a Bavarian style cheekpiece and palm swell for the righthand shooter and a sold grip cap. Rear eye for the sling swivel is on the toe of the stock and the front sling eye is mounted to the bottom of the barrel.
Rifle weighs 5 lbs. 4oz.
The rifle remains in very good condition overall but shows various handling marks on the wood. The metal remains excellent.
