Payment Types Accepted: Credit Card, Certified Check, Money Order Description: Antique SMITH & WESSON “New Model” No. 3 .44 RUSSIAN FRONTIER WILD WEST Single Action .44 S&W RUSSIAN Caliber Here we present an antique Smith & Wesson New Model No. 3 Single Action Revolver manufactured circa the early 1890s with a production run between 1877 and 1912. In 1877, S&W discontinued production of its other Model 3s, such as the American, Russian, and Schofield, in favor a new improved design called the “New Model” No. 3. This new model had a longer cylinder allowing it to fire longer cartridges. Standard chambering was .44 S&W Russian, although other calibers were offered on special order or in related models such as the .44-40 Frontier model, the .32-44 and .38-44 Target models, and the very rare .38-40 Winchester model. Smith & Wesson revolvers, then as now, are some of the finest in the world. Excellently machined, well-proportioned and accurate. It is no wonder why so many records of the era were set with this revolver. Notable shooters and owners of the original No. 3 include Buffalo Bill Cody, Ira Anson Paine, F.E. Bennett, Annie Oakley, Frank Butler, General George Custer and Theodore Roosevelt. The overall condition is good+. It wears an old refinish and dark patina. The action is functional though the cylinder will reliably index and lock up if the hammer is cocked slowly and methodically, it will over travel if the hammer is cocked too forcibly and swiftly. The bore is in fine condition, bright with sharp rifling. The top of the left grip has the number 11 stamped into it. The grips show much use and the left grip in particular has a couple of chips, a stable split at the top and a chip at the bottom. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 6-1/2 inches. Caliber: .44 S&W Russian Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE.
