Description:
1st Gen Colt Model 1873 (aka Single Action Army or “Peacemaker”). This revolver was manufactured in 1901 and is chambered in 44-40. Barrel is 4-1/2” long. The two piece hard rubber grips with rampant colt motif show moderate wear. All markings are easily read with white paint. Patent marking is two line, three date. Circled rampant colt on left side of frame, circle nearly complete (indicating wear on the factory die stamp). Oval shaped ejector. Caliber is NOT marked. Barrel is rifled with the older style narrow lands/wide groves and is marked “COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER” on left side and two line address on top. Matching serial number on butt, trigger guard, and frame. Cylinder pin retained by horizontal latch (Smokeless Powder). Hammer is correct as evidenced by the border around the knurling and line underneath. Grip screw has been filed down to shorten it.
We believe this pistol has been re-blued it retains about 90% of blued finish. Bore has minor pitting and is still shiny.
