Description:
Colt U.S. Army Model 1901 D.A. 38 chambered in .38 Colt. The barrel is marked with the words "COLT'S PT. F. A. MFG CO HARTFORD CT U. S. A. PATENTED AUG. 5, 1884 NOV. 6, 88 MAR. 5, 95" and "COLT D.A. 38." Serial Number dates it to 1900, serial number is 143879, 3879 stamped on Cylindar release, Crane and inside of frame. Cylindar is stamped 6284 and both frame and cylindar are stamped RAC. The "R.A.C." sub-inspection mark of Ordnance inspector Rinaldo A. Carr is stamped on the left rear of the frame and rear face of the cylinder. Rinaldo A. Carr was the government inspector at Colt from 1890 to 1903. Firearm is in good condition for being 124 years old. .38 Colt
