We do not think you will find a better one unless new in a box.Almost never found is the short action predecessor to the 700 (sharing many of the same patents) in a deluxe version of so many peoples favorite caliber; 257 Robert (We have not put it out yet but we also have a spectacualr Cooper with elaborate checkering fancy stock, case colored bolt, receiver, rings....the full treatment in 257 Roberts inquire) This 722 is nearly flawless with no handling marks, no loss of blue, dings, scratches, pitting or otherwise worth mentioning except....as was somewhat customary in the big woods of the Northeast were we are located a very small dime sized compass was imbedded on the comb. We have an exceptional wood man who could remove and fill and hide so that it would appear as original....but will add to the cost. This gun appears to be a correct factory checkered semi deluxe (our term) meaning checkered but not upgraded wood with more figure. We have not removed the barreled action from the near perfect stock to see if there is an AC marking but it appears to be correct . The screws are approx perfect and not buggered, the floor plate free of handling marks, trigger guard only minor marks; except as noted it pretty much looks like it did when it left Illion NY in 1954.
Front and rear sights replaced with blanks so as not to appear in sight picture of scope...These are readily avail from many sources...Front site remains only the blade removed and easily replaced.
