SOLD This Mauser coded 42 carbine has the 1938 date on top of the receiver ring. The carbine's serial number is 9337 w. This carbine is all matched numbers except the cleaning rod. The stock and screws match this carbine. The 8 M/M German Service cartridge bore is very clean showing some service wear. The lands are strong with no pitting or other issues. The carbine's original finish would rate a 85% or better condition. The hand guard barrel band and front H barrel band spring is also serial numbered to this gun! The stock is properly Heer marked. The butt plate is also serial numbered to this carbine. The stock and hand guard show sign of being oiled in the past. Otherwise this carbine is all original to 1938 pre World War 2 standards. The sling is a correct original sling for these carbines. These early 98K's have a very poor survival rate. To find a matched serial number pre War 98K is a wonderful find for a collector! Here is one of these highly collectable 98K's for the collector!
