Description:
Here is a very fine contemporary flintlock pistol. Top of barrel signed P.W. & M.E. Cravener in cursive script. Pistol is brass mounted with clasic raised serpentien side plate. Lock & barrel are of blackened steel giving the appearance of aged iron. Tapered wooden ram rod has threaded femail brass tail for attaching bore cleaning tools. Lock plate is marked "Private Property" in Porcugese. While great Britain & Portugoul share the longest sustained friendship agreement of any 2 nations in Europ. It's a bit of a mysery since this pistol was modern made. Lock is fully functional. Holds cock in both positions. First cock is NOT a safety position. Barrel is 14" long with a 60 caliber groovr rifled bore. Pistol does not appear to have ever been fired. Split om left side of stock running from the muzzel back tp the rear barrel pin. Would be an easy repair. No wood loss other then a small chip just umder the lock tail. This is a big ass poistol. Measuring 21" long & weighs 3 Lbs 11 oz.
