Well made boxlock by a solid maker this upland double has a hidden third fastener, double triggers, automatic ejectors and auto safety. Tight on face. Blanch no. 6907 has loads of residual case coloring and good bluing. Proofed for 1 oz loads. Nice handling lightweight game gun at 5lb 12oz. Presented in a period case. The 28” chopper lump nitro steel barrels are chambered for 2-1/2” shotshells. Rumors to the contrary notwithstanding, low pressure 16 gauge 2-1/2” shotshells are currently being imported by Game Bore, ARMUSA as well as available from RST Shells. The barrels are topped by a slender raised solid concave gamestyle rib. The rib is inscribed “J. Blanch & Son. 20 Cullum Street, Tenchurch Street. London E.C.”. London proofed in 1997 for 1oz loads. The right barrel is bored 0.657 with a constriction of 0.000 for Cylinder choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.029. The left barrel is bored 0.655 and has a constriction of 0.018 for Modified choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.032. The straight hand stock and splinter forearm are made of nicely figured European walnut. Stock dimensions are 14-1/2” including a 5/8” recoil pad by 1-7/16” by 1-7/8”. Cast off for the righthanded shooter. Stock has handling marks from normal usage. A sturdy and dependable 16 bore upland double from a respected maker. Easy to carry for a day afield with its light weight and great handling. Superb piece for the grouse, woodcock and quail hunter.
