US Springfield Model 1884 Trapdoor Rifle with 32 5/8" Bbl, Cal, 45-70 Gov' cal with adjustable Buffington rear sight. Blade front sight with post base for socket bayonet. One piece oil finished walnut stock with SWP 1889 (Samuel W Porter). Vividly case colored breech block marked US MODEL 1884, 2 barrel retaining bands with sling swivel and stacking swivel. 2 piece trigger guard assembly with sling swivel. 3 position tumbler. Blue finish lock marked US SPRINGFIELD w/ Federal Eagle. Steel butt plate w/o trap for tools. Condition, Exceptionally fine retaining over 98% barrel blue with brilliant bright & sharp rifled bore. Lock is excellent with 75% faded blue finish. Breech retains 95% vivid case colors. Cartouche remains crisp & legible. Mechanically excellent. Mfd, 1886.
