Double Set Triggers, .38 Caliber
Here we present an antique D.A. Barnhart Percussion Long Rifle, manufactured circa the 1860s in Reedsburg, Wisconsin. D.A. Barnhart was a gunsmith and Reedsburg village leader, holding both the office of President and trustee in the 1870s. He came from a family of gunsmiths and gunmakers that were settled in the Sauk County area of Wisconsin.
This is a slightly later gun set up for precision and target use.
The overall condition is good+. Brown finish. The action is strong. Set trigger must be set. The bore is in good condition, dim with sharp rifling. The stock shows use. There is a small repair just ahead of the lock and a short, stable split at the screw head on the left stock flat.
