Winchester Model 1894 lever action rifle in caliber 32 Winchester Special with standard 26" round barrel, full magazine, crescent butt with steel butt plate, open sights, plain walnut stocks, straight grip, blued and case hardened finish, serial number 879079, made 1918 per the Madis published records. This one has the special order takedown frame.
Honest rifle having sound stocks except for a short 1" tight split coming off the right side wrist behind the receiver, otherwise just typical/expected dings from use. Barrel and mag blue retain 65% fine blue drifting to plum with the usual wear on the mag tube from the operation of the takedown system. Action is crisp, with a properly working half cock safety. Mag tube is tight with no wobble Takedown also tight with no wobble. Bore is very good, an 8 of 10, mostly bright with plenty of sharp rifling, mixed with very darkening in the grooves, may clean better and should spin a bullet just fine. Flat top rear sight with special order Marble Sheard front sight. Typical of this vintage, the receiver blue has flaked away, leaving a soft gun metal gray with blue in the protected areas. A very good Winchester to add to your collection.
