Description:
Springfield 1873 Trapdoor chambered in .45-70 Government. Known as "Trapdoor Springfield" rifles, this was the first standard-issue breech-loading rifle adopted by the United States Army. The Trapdoor remained the longarm of the U.S. Armed Forces until replaced by the bolt-action repeating rifle known as the Krag-Jorgensen in 1892. This rifle is in very good condition with a bright bore and strong rifling. This rifle was 1 of the 500 "Trapdoor Springfields" featured in the Dixie Collection. The check sheet for this rifle was for sales from the Dixie Gun Works from 1966 to 1976. Includes spike bayonet. .45-70 Government
