VERY hard to find; Pre War configured Model 12 in 16 gauge with a Solid Rib barrel AND some of the prettiest wood I have seen on a standard grade M12!
S/N 956833 as completed in 1942.
28" SOLID RIB barrel is stamped Modified choke, but may have been opened up slightly since I am getting an IC reading with my brass step gauge. 2 3/4" chamber.
This classy shotgun presents very nicely in hand, and photographs quite well, but I would rate it as approaching 95% Blue and Varnish due to some typical handling marks and wear of a shotgun that has seen some average use but has been very well cared for. I tipped the receiver up into the worst direct light to reveal a bit of freckling there, but this is not distracting at all to me without such exaggeration.
The wood is gorgeous as you can see, and absolutely original issue, yet considerably better than many of the skeet grades I have handled from this era! Just a naturally beautiful color and grain pattern without being too "over the top". Very sharp gun.
The bore is a mirror, and mechanics are butter smooth and proper. Take down union is tight.
