Description:
WWI Era SMITH & WESSON .455 Webley “Mark II” HAND EJECTOR Revolver C&R

N-Frame Follow-up to the “TRIPLELOCK” Revolver

Here we present a C&R Smith & Wesson .455 Webley Mark II Hand Ejector 2nd Model Revolver, manufactured between 1915 and 1917 in Springfield, Massachusetts. This revolver was similar to the 1st Model, without an extractor shroud. The barrel length on both the 1st and 2nd Models was 6-1/2 inches. The serial number range on this series of revolvers was between 5000 and 74755 with approximately 69,755 manufactured during its production run. The “Hand Ejector” models were the first time S&W made a revolver with a swing-out cylinder.

Smith & Wesson’s N-Frame double-action revolvers are some of the most respected handguns ever made. This is especially true for the pre/early-World War I examples like this one. A scarce example that S&W enthusiast favor is the pre-war N-Frames called the “triplelock” .44 Special, which was the precursor to this example. Only about 15,000 of those were sold between 1908 and 1915. Later S&W offered Hand Ejector (HE) 2nd, 3rd and 4th Models of the N-Frame. All are greatly desired as .44 Specials. Some were also made as .38-40, .44-40, .455 Webley, and .45 Colt, though these are very scarce.

The overall condition is fine. Original blue finish and case colors. The action is excellent in both single and double action modes. The bore is shiny bright with sharp rifling. Trademarked wooden grips are solid. Lanyard ring is absent. Numbers match throughout.
