Used; Colt Government Model of 1911 US ARMY marked; .45 Auto/ACP Caliber; SN 287,1XX with 1918 Year of Manufacture. It looks like a Post-WW-I or WW-II – Era Arsenal Rebuild with Later (Arched) Mainspring Housing, Short Trigger, and other small parts/controls of later manufacture. The Frame and Slide bear Original Colt- and Proper US ARMY markings & Colt- and Inspector’s Cartouches. This one was made before the “1918 Black Army” Serial Number Range - and escaped the minimal polish and rough finish of those later 1918 pistols. It has the Pre- and Post-1918 Rectangular Grip Frame Cut-outs and bears Brown Plastic Grips. The Magazine Toe is Stamped “C-S”. Most of the Original (or Arsenal) Finish remains on the Frame; less on the Slide. The metal varies between smooth patina and mild roughness – with no visible tool/milling marks. The Barrel/Chamber is Stamped "P"; and the bore has pitting with preserved rifling. The Pistol functioned flawlessly with acceptable defensive accuracy during a live-fire safety check. Given the age and probable military rebuild, condition is best judged by the photos.
