Description:
Stunning high condition J.P. Mauser 30-06 manufactured in 1911 for the American market (note Son rather than Sohn barrel inscription). Built on a 1911 Oberndorf Mauser factory sporting rifle action with a 24 1/2" Fluid Steel Krupp Essen half round/half octagon barrel with a full length integral rib with a quarter rib configuration. Rear sight with one standing and one folding leaves. Bore is excellent and as new. Standard length round top action has never been drilled or tapped. Equipped with the coveted Lyman 35 receiver peep sight (circa 1905-1943) which I have seen sell for $900 by themselves. Double set triggers and lever release floorplate with engraved action screws. Stocked in the classic Suhl style with side panels, steel grip cap, schnabel forend tip, and horn buttplate with engraved screws.
This is an outstanding piece and a veritable 1911 time capsule. It is absolutely untouched and unmolested showing only minimal use with some blue loss on the floorplate carry area. A rare find.
