Description:
The Savage® 12 Benchrest Single-Shot Bolt-Action Rifle is specifically designed for competing in shooting matches, where targets are engaged from a bench, or prone position. An incredibly stable, wood laminate stock uses pillar bedding to free-float the 30", full-profile stainless steel barrel. The stock is shaped perfectly for shooting from a rest with a high, straight comb, and a wide, flat, ventilated, beavertail fore end. There are no sling swivel studs to get in the way, and the solid-bottom stock (no magazine well) adds to the platform's rigidity. The 12 Benchrest bolt-action rifle uses Savage's red Target AccuTrigger® that adjusts finer than the standard AccuTrigger. A 3-position safety allows the chamber to be loaded and unloaded with the safety engaged. The basic bolt design of the Savage 12 assures that the locking lugs come into full contact with the receiver, holding the headspace to a minimum every time the bolt is locked. The tight headspace contributes to the excellent accuracy Savage rifles are known for. The bolt operates with a push-feed design, utilizing a sliding-plate extractor and a spring-loaded plunger-type ejector. Comes drilled and tapped for scope bases. 6.5-284 Norma
