All original and complete. The rifle has fine plus metal and markings throughout. The lock is clearly marked, "U.S./DERINGER/PHILA". The barrel is marked "LS/P & US' and the top of the butt plate is marked "US". All of the metal parts including the barrel and lock on the rifle retains most of their original factory brown finish on them with some areas showing light wear. It has its original ramrod in it. The wood is also fine plus throughout with a wonderful natural color to it. The barrel has a very good bore in it. There is a an old family presentation inside the patchbox dated 1923. This presentation should be further researched. The Deringer Rifle has a very good action in it. This Is A Very Fine Looking And Early U.S. Military Issued Deringer Model 1817 Flintlock Rifle Dated 1823, Converted To Percussion That Most Likely Had Use In Both The Mexican War & Civil War!
