Early 18th Century French Flintlock Fowler Restore Special- Holiday Special!
With over 5 decades in the business of acquiring fine collectibles of all types and time periods we have many opportunities to find untouched and original items from estates all along the eastern seaboard. Many fine untouched collectibles originated from Europe and came over with early emigrants from Europe as well as during the American Revolution and later. Just acquired from a local estate is this early original antique French fowler/trade gun ORIGINALLY FROM THE 1730s-40s which was evidentaly restocked here in the late 1780s-earlt 1800s. This specimen measures a LONG 68” overall with a barrel measuring approximately 53”. Untouched and unconverted in original flintlock form with full length early pinned barrel. Brass furniture includes beautifully embellished buttplate and French coat of arms style escutcheon on top of wrist. There are aged cracks in the buttstock and wrist opposite lock but they are old and add to the appeal of this specimen. Where restoration is needed is on either side of forestock on either side of muzzle. For the accomplished restorer a project worthy of bringing this wonderfully original estate find back to its former beauty. Although we have the ability to accomplish this with our restorer we offer this “as is” but would gladly sell it with a quotation to potential buyer who would like us to do the project.
