Description:
Solingen Civil War Short Artillery Sword Pattern 1832

This Pattern 1832 Short Artillery Sword is in original unaltered condition with nice aged “untouched” patina.  The blade is in remarkable condition with no evidence of sharpening.  It also has a clean un-messed with tip.  The blades edge is clean devoid of any nicks and gouges.  No play at all in the blade and guard. The original leather washer is still intact.   Very tight.  The blade is marked “Wester & Co. Solingen” near the guard. Solingen is called “The City of Blades.”   Isaac Wester (Wester & Co.) was in business from approximately 1825-1883.  His company was a large manufacturer and importer of swords especially during the American Civil War.  According to the Union Drummer Boy (Civil War Militaria) in Gettysburg, blades marked “Wester & Co.” are those made for the Civil War contracts.   The brass guard is stamped with two Federal Shields bearing an I along with the numbers “213.”   Made in Germany or more correctly Made in Prussia.   Please email if you have any questions.  Thank you for looking.  A+ rating on and 100% positive feedback on eBay since 1996.    $485.00 Offers always considered.
