Description:
Scarce and very fine Winchester 1876 rifle in 45-60 caliber.
S/N 17107 made in 1881.
28" Octagon barrel with a minty, near mirror bore and sharp rifling.
Strong original blue remains over most with some anticipated light scratches/rubs. Trace case colors are present on the hammer, lever, and the trapdoor crescent buttplate. (no cleaning rods present).
Very good and structurally sound wood with most of its original finish and a few scattered scrapes. There are no cracks and it has never been sanded or refinished.
Original sights consist of a German silver front and correct ladder rear stamped 1876, along with a vernier tang sight with strong spring and adjustment.
All mechanical functions are crisp and working properly.
Comes with Cody Museum research letter confirming configuration.
