Description:
VERY FINE CONDITION MODEL 1909 U.S. ARMY NEW SERVICE .45 COLT REVOLVER, #44XXX, MADE 1911. These superbly finished revolvers were the last of the .45 Colt caliber revolvers issued to our armed forces of the time. This one is corrrectly R.A.C. inspected on the frame, cylinder, barrel and on the bottom of both grips. I talso has the unaltered "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" stamping on the bottom of the barrel- this often ground off. These were finished in Colt's high polish blue of the time and this one retains much of this fine finish. The barrel shows excellent sharp markings with only light gray mixing toward the muzzle on each side from holster wear (balance of blue on top and bottom etc. intact). The cylinder only shows very light wear and edge wear, frame, front strap, top strap and butt retain most of this high polish blue with sharp styalized C rampant colt stamping on the left side of the frame. Only the backstrap blue is thinning/mixing brown. Unaltered front sight, super tight action with no play or end shake, minty bright bore. Beautiful fire blue on the trigger sides and hammer back. Smooth inspected and matching numbered walnut grips show only light wear on the bottom edge. One of the finest Colts ever turned out for the government. jHard to find especially in this condition.
