Description:
Custom Pre-64 Winchester Model 70 Featherweight rifle in 30/06, stocked by T. (Ted) Nicklas in 1976 and so marked in the barrel channel. Formerly of Williams Gunsights, now deceased. Featured in "Custom Guns" book, not this rifle but his carvings. Associated with Lowell Mannley. East coast importer ot Teyssier blanks.
The metal is the original Pre-64 Winchester Model 70 Featherweight with the original 22 inch barrel, hollow bolt handle, and floorplate/trigger guard.
The stock appears to be high grade English walnut with a generous amount of point pattern checkering. The bolt handle and bolt stop/release are also checkered. The pistol grip cap is checkered.
Weight is 7.25 pounds and the LOP is 13.25 inches over a 3/4-inch Pachmayr recoil pad. Probably could be lengthed by up to 1/2 inch with leather covered pad.
An excellent rifle.
