HISTORIC MARKED GREAT DEPRESSION OFFICERS MODEL HEAVY BARREL .38 SPECIAL WITH FEDERAL RESERVE BANK STAMPING, #640XXX, MADE 1939. An interesting Colt that is stamped on the butt "7. FRB. NY." which a Google search showed stood for Federal Reserve Bank of New York. One would think the Fed. Reserve Bank would have supplied standard fixed sight Official Police models, but perhaps this was their way of showing they were an elite bank! Shows a little holster carry wear mainly just some slight dulling of the blue on the bottom of the trigger guard and the most minor edge wear. Checkered trigger shows good fire blue on the sides, checkered back strap. Generally, exc. blue overall with exc. markings and some very light chips from the right side (the exposed side when in a holster) bottom edge. Tight action that was hand fitted and tuned on these pre-W.W.II Depression era revolvers with no play or end shake when the cylinder is locked. Minty bright bore. Retains just about all the blue on the front face of the cylinder indicating it was rarely if ever shot. Marked guns are always intriguing!
